Condom Testing Standards
100% Electronic Testing & Quality Control
What is Electronic Testing?
Electronic testing is the most advanced condom quality control method available. Every single ULEX® condom passes through an electronic conductivity scanner that detects microscopic defects — pores, weak spots, and micro-tears invisible to the naked eye. This ensures zero defects, not just statistically acceptable quality.
How Electronic Testing Works
- Step 1: Each condom is filled with water (conductive solution)
- Step 2: The condom passes through an electrical field
- Step 3: Any hole or weak spot creates a current change
- Step 4: Defective condoms are automatically rejected
- Step 5: Only 100% perfect condoms proceed to packaging
Standard Quality Tests (EN ISO 4074)
Air Burst Test
Measures the strength and elasticity of the condom by inflating it with air until it bursts.
- ✓ Minimum burst pressure: ≥ 1.0 kPa
- ✓ Minimum burst volume: ≥ 16 liters
- ✓ Tests elasticity and strength
Water Leak Test
Each condom is filled with 300ml of water and inspected for leaks or holes.
- ✓ 300ml water capacity
- ✓ Hold for 2 minutes
- ✓ Zero leaks allowed
Dimensions Test
Verifies that condoms meet specified length and width requirements.
- ✓ Length: ≥ 160mm
- ✓ Width (Regular): 52–54mm
- ✓ Width (XL): 56–60mm
Package Integrity Test
Ensures that individual packaging maintains seal integrity and protects the condom.
- ✓ Seal strength testing
- ✓ Expiration date visibility
- ✓ Storage condition compliance
Batch Testing vs. 100% Testing
| Aspect | Standard (CE) | ULEX® (TÜV) |
|---|---|---|
| Testing method | Batch sampling | 100% electronic |
| Defect detection | Statistical (AQL) | Zero defects |
| Sample size | ~500 per batch | Every single condom |
| Defect rate | ~0.65% acceptable | 0% tolerance |
| Certification | CE 0197 | CE 0197 + TÜV |
Why 100% Electronic Testing Matters
Standard Testing (Batch Sampling)
- • Tests ~500 condoms per batch of 100,000
- • Acceptable defect rate: 0.65% (AQL 0.65)
- • Means ~650 defective condoms per 100,000
- • Relies on statistical probability
ULEX® Testing (100% Electronic)
- • Tests EVERY single condom
- • Zero defects allowed
- • Detects microscopic pores
- • Maximum safety guarantee
